Period: 2010-2011

Between the beginning of 2010 and the end of 2011 Semat restored three coal storage towers on the Ilva Taranto production site. The 60 meter reinforced concrete towers were surrounded by a scaffolding system with a design to specifically prevent material from falling on the areas below. Thanks to this technical solution, it was possible to keep the coke production plants operating during the restoration works.

First the reinforced concrete walls were cleaned in preparation for the restoration carried out with special mortars transported up to 60 meters by means of a pump system. Subsequently, the tower was coated with weatherproof materials in order to ensure greater durability and preservation of the structure over time.
